OffPeaks: Meet Hugo Elliott

Born and brought up in wilder parts of the UK, Hugo Elliott has always enjoyed sports and the outdoors.

He’s at his happiest when walking the hills, thrashing himself on his bicycle, or participating in a ski touring adventure with friends. He’s rock climbed in Yosemite, completed an ironman triathlon, a relay triathlon from London to Paris, several marathons, a mountain marathon in Switzerland, and ridden lots of cyclo sportives.

OffPeaks was born as a result of one of Hugo’s ski touring trips, and the realisation that sports instructors and small businesses were underserved by technology.  There was no solution to help sports instructors grow their businesses, nor to help people find instructors, nor to book to pay for their instruction.

Hugo Elliott, OffPeaks CEOWhen he’s not outdoors, Hugo is the co-founder and CEO of OffPeaks. He ensures that things run smoothly on a day to day basis. OffPeaks is a remote working company, meaning we have no office and have employees and partners located around the world. This makes Hugo’s job much more interesting and challenging.

Hugo is passionate about empowering people, about lower barriers to technology, and using technology as a means to grow businesses.

Hugo Elliott’s Fun facts:

  • Next sport on the list: Iyengar Yoga. Unfortunately I’m feeling the effects of of being the wrong side of 40, and having a dodgy knee (I had some cartilage out of one knee two years ago). I recently took a Iyengar Yoga class. It was amazing. There was greater use of blocks, straps and props than I was used in Yoga to but it felt amazingly gentle, and I came out of it feeling incredibly supple and relaxed.
  • Sport I failed at:  Cross country skiing.  I’ve never felt more out of control than going downhill on a pair of cross country skis.  It was terrifying.
  • When not at OffPeaks: I love reading, cooking and trying to learn how to code.
  • Little-known fact: I enjoy trying to draw fire engines, my style is some what primitive.
  • Hidden talent: I can sew and consider is an important ‘man-skill’.
  • Motto: Never hanker after the past. Learn from it and move forwards.
  • Super-Power I’d like to have: I’d like to be able to fly. I get vertigo (even when watching climbing films) and it’s something I’d like to conquer.
